Sometimes I get a program to the point where it functions a bit, and does some interesting things but is not bullet-proof or is incomplete. In cases where it doesn't do any harm, I want to make it available for general use. When I have such programs, I will put a link to them here. Use them if you want, but usually they will not have documentation or instructions and may fail often. Of course, if you think of some changes that would be interesting, email me at Utah BBA.
Show Utah habitat maps by USGS Topo Quad. The map ID is the number used within this site. Heavy black borders indicate the square has been selected for surveying.I was asked by the DWR to reselect survey squares using a Stratified Random method. This program shows the squares selected and provides a way to view the square information for each of them. Please note that every square that has been surveyed has been retained. Also note that the square information is somewhat incomplete. Also note that these changes are not yet finalized, but are placed here so that anyone interested can comment. If you have a comment, email me at Utah BBA.
Show New Survey Squares. Click close to the upper left corner for best results.Part of the process of choosing new squares required knowing how much of each habitat was in the selected squares, so I could determine the appropriate number of survey points to have. I wrote this analysis program to tell me how how many squares had patches of habitat based on the number of hectares of the habitat were in the square. Based upon this, I calculated how many survey points I needed for each habitat within each square. I did not format this pretty since it is a working document for me.
Please note that this takes a lot of time - up to 5 minutes depending on how busy the server is at the time. Please do not execute this often, since it uses a lot of couputer resources to process.
